Netarkivet.dk collects Second Life

In cooperation with Tommy Nilsson (Dr. Asp) from Wonderful Denmark, Netarkivet.dk has been able to get a representative sample of Danish actions and places in Second Life in the form of 44 videos, that Tommy Nilsson had filmed and edited to fill about 2 hours and 10,5 GB and saved in Mpeg2 format in the archive.
Due to the dynamic world of Second Life it is not possible to harvest data from Second Life adequately. Therefore the filming of the actions of (anonymized) avatars will give posterity an impression of this world.

Due to restrictive rules concerning access to the webarchive, only researchers will have access to the videos in the archive. However, selective videos have been posted on YouTube http://doctorasp.wordpress.com/2010/12/14/second-life-videoer-pa-youtube/ and a description of the project and sites chosen described here http://doctorasp.wordpress.com/2010/11/28/pligtaflevering-af-virtuelle-verdener/ (in Danish).
